CEMESP and the Independent Information Commission held public engagement on access to information

UNESCO declared September 28 each year as International Right To Know Day to raise awareness of the importance of universal access to information.
To observe the day, and in continuation of public outreach activity under the Liberia Media Initiative Project, co-financed by the European Union, the Center for Media Studies and Peacebuilding (CEMESP) and the Independent Information Commission held a live interview with Ecowas Radio in Monrovia.
The show basically considered the background of Liberia’s Freedom of Information (FOI) Law and the establishment of the Independent Information commission.
The scope of the Law and the mandate of the commission.
Public rights under the FOI Law and the steps in filing a request for information including the exemptions of Law.
Succeses and challenges of the commission as well as the Center for Media Studies and Peacebuilding engagements with the IIC under the Liberia Media initiative project.
